How stupid are religious people?

Reading through the forum posts from religious people Muslims, Christians, Mormons, Budists, etc, I am left with one overwhelming question lingering in my mind.

How stupid do you have to be to actually believe in this iron age bullshit superstition?

(iron age bullshit superstition = mainstream religion. I thought it best to explain so you religious people can follow this topic)

Expressions such as complete idiot, moron or imbecile, sound horribly inadequate to describe the total absence of free thought and reason, that is mainstream religion.

I am a bit at a loss as to where i schould begin to try to describe or illustrate how stupid you have to be to follow any religion. The task seams almost insurmountable faced with the sheer quantity of moronic examples one can find simply by opening up a newspaper.

Lets take one example, often religious people will lament me for being so adamant that religion = shit. Maybe they are not aware of religions evils throughout history? (“he who forgets history is condemned to repeat it”.)

A short glimpse in the history books or the so called religious holy books, will colorfully describe a few thousand years of persecution, torture, and death at the hands of various religious twitts. Intellectual oppression, brutally enforced tyranny, occupation, war and violent invasions, hundreds of millions of lost human lives! etc.

It should be enough to sober up anybody, but no. In fact based on their history humanity, believers and non-believers alike schould feel seriously threatened by the very concept of religion.

Alow me to clarify for you religious people so you can get the right perspective on this.

Would you claim to support the naziz? Would you call them good? would you defend their actions? I guess not, but by supporting a religion and defending its right to exist you are effectively defending ideologies and organizations that makes the brutal murderous Nazi regime seam like a kinder garden pick nick.

Some of you might wonder how I can compare religious followers to Nazis? in fact Nazis were Christians whose standard issue Nazi belt buckle bore the words “Gott ist mit uns”, or “God is with us” so all of you atheist that want to attack me in order to appear politically correct, my analogy is more than justified.

Just like a spouse sometimes defends their abusive counterpart (after all he did take me to the hospital after he beat me? he still does love me, doesnt he?) Defending religion means that you also defend the crusades, the eradication of the Inca civilization, giving smallpox infected blankets to Indians, the taleban, the inquisition, imperialism, the list of evils you defend and support goes on and on.

The arguments and excuses presented by the religious dimwitts are usually along these lines, it was a, long time ago, or, its not really like that.

News flash! the basic ideology that created the inquisition, the taleban, sexual mutilation, the creationist movement, etc, hasnt changed!

It still continues to this day, even though religious leaders have given up the claim that the world is flat and the the universe revolves around us, religious leaders still claim things like the world is 6000 years old, sexual mutilation is the will of god, condom use is a sin, etc etc etc, the list of absurdities is miles long.

lets paralell these arguments to the Nazi analogy again, the second world war and the holocost was a long time ago? The nazi party isnt really like that anymore?

Makes your mouth taste bad doesn’t it..

Does that mean we schould embraze the nazi ideals? NO! just like the nazi regime was an abomenation! Over the milennia religion have ruled with fear and violence, it has rutlessly and systematically destroyed any and all new ideas that might threaten the prescribed religious dogma.

Just look at it the Nazi holocaust is child’s play compared to Moses’ exploits of looting, pillaging, rape, and wholesale slaughter of women and children. Its a hell of a lot worse then the Nazi regime! Yet most people with half a brain manages to hate the nazi regime and deplore everything it stands for, but for some strange reason many of these people manages to apply a different set of morals when judging religious atroseties and mythology.

The Nazi party isn’t “like that” anymore either, but that does not make their ideas okay! the same is true for religion.

Religion suppresses any and all attempts of progressive thinking contradicting its absurd mythology. Anything not in line with the superstitious garbage is labeled as blasphemy, punishable by torture and death. Yet it is progressive free thought that has delivered us from the dark ages. (The dark ages was actually a religious construct in the first place).

Just imagine where we could be where it not for the religious party? perhaps mankind would have put a man on the moon 500 years ago instead of 30 Imagine the technology we could have today, bio-engineered crops feeding the world’s hungry, medical technology eradicating disease forever, weather control preventing drought and natural disaster, alternative fuels that don’t pollute. But, alas, the religious faction has and still tries to vigorously stamp out all science (truth) that threatened the dogma (mythology) which gives the religion its power.

Now another fact that seams to sail right past religious people is that if god was good why didn’t he just make us a better planet to live on? All trees could bear fruit 365 days a year, all the soil on the planet could be fertile the weather could be more mild, disease might not exist, oil would not pollute the atmosphere when burned, etc.

But no, instead god supposedly punishes us all for sins often committed thousands of years before we where even born, and through his teachings, deprives us of science and knowledge we need to prevent the plague, famine, and catastrophes that god supposedly bestows upon us.

Yet religious people some how manages to not see such obvious facts? i wonder how they do this? ist their brain fuctionly properly? i mean i cant think of any scenario where its possible to execute such self deseption.

To be able to axecute such retarded mental exercises you have to be an indescribable idiot!

Now ,this is what I call an intolerant religious person . Jan;I am religious myself but I think it is not good to attack an atheist the way you attacked him by calling him names .

    Have tolerance my friend .

  5. LOL Jan you are the guy with the spoof christian site arent you?

nice way to keep up the aperance

  6. hey you stupid idiot …ATHEIST!!!!! VERY FOOL!! and Ignorant!!!

YOU SATAN GET LOST!!! STUPID ATHIEST!

  7. Mathew Philip Mattathu says:

See;I was right all along .You just cannot answer my question and are being evasive .

I was right all along about you .Anyways ,best of luck .he he

    lol

  8. Braekmans Herman says:

Sorry, I meant, I’ll follow the advice of escaped mental patient. I suffered from a delusion when I thought to be able to free you from your superstition. Now I know how religion works. A blind, brain-washed man is immune to reason.

  9. Braekmans Herman says:

I will follow the advice of Mathew Philip. Morons like you don’t deserve attention. Go trolling somewhere else.

This one is from a site .Just read it if you have the patience

The missing link between man and apes, whose absence has comforted religious fundamentalists since the days of Darwin, is merely the most glamorous of a whole hierarchy of phantom creatures … The more scientists have searched for the transitional forms that lie between species, the more they have been frustrated

Could life evolve randomly from inorganic matter? Not according to mathematicians.

In the last 30 years a number of prominent scientists have attempted to calculate the odds that a free-living, single-celled organism, such as a bacterium, might result by the chance combining of pre-existent building blocks. Harold Morowitz calculated the odds as one chance in 10100,000,000,000. Sir Fred Hoyle calculated the odds of only the proteins of an amoebae arising by chance as one chance in 1040,000.

…the odds calculated by Morowitz and Hoyle are staggering. The odds led Fred Hoyle to state that the probability of spontaneous generation ‘is about the same as the probability that a tornado sweeping through a junk yard could assemble a Boeing 747 from the contents therein.’ Mathematicians tell us that any event with an improbability greater than one chance in 1050 is in the realm of metaphysics — i.e. a miracle.

Since ,you do not believe in miracles ,maybe your argument falls flat

There is more though .For each of your unreasonable arguments ,there is a counter argument.

EMP,please learn to spell before calling others stupid . A smart man makes mistakes but makes a mistake only once but a stupid one keeps making the same mistake over and over again.

  12. Mathew Philip Mattathu says:

    Braekmans,
Haven’t you noticed you have not answered my question yet ? I told you that I do not know the answer to how the world was formed .But ,since you are smart ,why can’t you tell me in brief ,how the universe came into existence or living matter came into being ?

Tell me,right from the start .enlighten me .You won’t because you yourself don’t know .You either start from hydrogen or from helium or the big bang or from non replicating molecules . You just add scientific terms but yourself do not know much about it .I am not saying I know everything about the big bang or so .I only said that I do not know how the world came into existence and that is one of the reaons maybe why I believe in God .Since, you know it all ,why not just tell me? . Right from the start?

Like ;One day there was some matter .( It came from thin air ) ha-ha

Then came hydrogen from the explosions etc .Try

I am talking about the intial matter .You are so evasive and think you are being smart .How stupid !

EMP ; I think you are the most stupid of all people because you only can hurl abuses at people when your opinions are challenged.

    Go ,take a hike !

  13. Spot on Braekmans

i left this mathew idiot to his own devises a long time ago

  14. Braekmans Herman says:

I’m sorry. This goes to far:
According to your writings, you don’t know the slightest bit about the formation of chemical elements in the universe. You should, because you have an university degree and this is part of your study. I’m just a customs officer, I don’t have to know it, yet I do. You should be the smart one here.

You obviously don’t know the concept of nuclear fusion. First you seemed to know that hydrogen is formed three minutes after the big bang and then you ask ‘AND HOW IS HELIUM’ formed? Furthermore, you don’t know what a 4 billion Kelvin hot iron plasma at the brink of a supernova explosion is. This is basic knowlegde, my friend. Everything you don’t understand about the formation of matter is KNOWN. the problem is that you don’t take the trouble to read the proper books in which these processes are explained.
You hold a university agree, man! Sorry, but now you are going to far. You are insulting my intellect. You are an internet troll who likes discussions, make people nervous. you want attention, and there’s nothing wrong with it, but I can’t stand someone who pretends he holds a university degree but who knows JACK SHIT about basic scientific concepts. I can’t stand your bullshit anymore.
Read a good book and we’ll argue further. This is very annoying!

  15. Mathew Philip Mattathu says:

It is not just about belief.I am seeking the truth and your explanations are sometimes interesting but they have gaps .

  16. Mathew Philip Mattathu says:

Okay ,you ( Muzolf and Braekmans) say that non organic/replicating molecules form when something burns or decays .My question is not how non organic molecules or anything came into place first .I am just asking you how did the first thing that was required for non replicating molecules to form come into being ? The intial matter !

According to Braekmans,I am an idiot .Well ,if that makes him happy ,then I am fine with that . Okay ,Braekmans, tell me account by account how everything was formed.First ,there was something and then came non replicating molecules and then came replicating molecules .Tell me about that something that was first there .I come from India where people do not think like you from the west ? Ha ha .You know that India may not be in the best of shape as some western countries and most of its population is either stupid or not that smart .( maybe 70 percent ) .However, at least about 30 percent of its population is really smart . I have seen it for myself .For example ,in my MBA class, the Indians were the best students .In most top american schools,Indians outdo the others .Take a look for yourself .I am not trying to prove anything .Just smiled when you said that we could not think critically .Many Indians are conservative and are brought up like that .That could be a reason why you could find more Indians who are religious and hold on to their beliefs. That is a more logical explanation .It has nothing to do with their mental ability.

ANF has some pretty interesting points there but as usual ,Braekmans knows it all and he is right always .You still have not answered my question .You just choose to ignore my question .I asked about the beginning .You talk about something in between.

I will try and get my hands on the books you told me about . I have also thought about whether God exists .I just cannot explain anything properly .The beginning ? Don’t you just get it ?

I also had personal experiences which is hard to brush off as coincidence. You will never understand it because you never had those experiences probably .

So,let man form life in a laboratory or let someone explain piece by piece with evidence about how everything started .Remember, gases like helium or whatever did not come there on its own one fine day out of the blue .

Just think in a different way like you ask me to think differently . Answer my questions .It is not about astrophysics and yes one more thing ;I do not see the need for me to copy and paste stuff from somewhere

    • Mentally Sound Human!! says:

      Hi Mate,
I am from India too. I know this post is very old that i randomly came across. Its not every Indian is conservative and accepts what is just told! Why should there be a beginning at all?? why should some one called “GOD” should have created at all! You should read about the branes and other theories which is a hot topic. you kind of people use, enjoy and dwelve in the technology created by the scientific mind and question what the hell is science??! :O Humans are becoming technologically advanced only recently. it make tame time to explain stuffs. but it will be based on hard evidences unlike what you blabber.

      • M says:

I am sorry but I really do not understand what you are trying to say. Just read what you wrote again. And you say I am blabbering. Very funny:) What is your point?

  17. Braekmans Herman says:

If life on mars would have evolved to human-sized and if they had developed technology, we would have at least seen some physical evidence of that. The surface of Mars doesn’t show anything that would point in that direction. They didn’t even find a bacteria. All life on Mars, if it ever existed will be very primitive, perhaps something in between a virus and a bacteria.

The search for life on mars is a waste of money. It is much better to pump money in projects like nanorobotics, quantum computing, biotechnology and artificial intelligence.

Nanorobotics will enable mankind to go from raw-material to finished product in one single step, and at extremely low-cost. It could stop hunger and suffering in the world because it costs nothing. Everyone can afford a replicating nanobot that can replicate itself and assemble everything physically possible molecule per molecule Industrial production can only support 5 billion people but post-industrial nanobot assembly could theoretically support 200 billion humans on this planet.

The basis for fundamentalist beliefs is mainly POVERTY. Molecular robotics can end poverty, which will in its turn erradicated religion.

The only kind of people that will slow down the development of these technologies are religious fanatics.

  18. A.N.F. says:

Muzolf I see what your saying but cheetahs do not murder out of envy or look at the stars in curiousity and wonder why we’re all here. We can’t really be compared to animals. Of course we use what we have to survive but not just to survive. We use our intelligence to paint pictures, figure out how things work and try to understand how we all got here.

Okay I’m going to throw something really outhere here. Just curious to what anyone might say to this but what if we weren’t evolved or created but what if somehow the first humans lived on mars when everyone thought there was life there and the humans that lived there were like us now only a little more advanced. And what if they found out their planet was going to be destroyed and they couldn’t stop it but they wanted to keep the human race going so they sent some people here. And what if the two human races seperated. Ones who came here and ones who stayed there. What if somehow some that stayed on mars survived and became more advanced. I know it sounds pretty crazy. I just randomly came up with that one day and just wondered what all you would say to that. Forgive any misspellings I don’t really have time to correct right now.

1 more thing everyone in here has wondered at one time how we got here. Thats how we came to choose to believe what we believe now. And thats what most of everyone in here is debating over. All of you want to know the truth of why we’re here right? Most people I know don’t care why they’re here. They only care that they are here. I wonder at times what would happen if the human race wasn’t so divided by what we believe and everything else but instead united, what we could do with that or how that might be. That would probably be boring if you think about it but powerful.

  19. Braekmans Herman says:

Well, I suggest Mathew learns a bit about:
    – the 11 dimension theory and the colision of branes, which formes new universes (big bangs)
    – the accumultaing of hydrogen in stars
    – formation of different elements up to iron in different types of stars
    – the formation of elements heavier then iron in in a supernova blast through neutron absorption

    – He must read
    – Richard Dawkins ‘the selfish gene’ and ‘the god delusion’
    – Sam Harris’ ‘letter to a christian nation’ and ‘the end of faith’

Or simpler and more understandable literature like:
    ‘Why won’t god heal amputees’

I understand that he comes from a part in the world where people are genetically more challenged to resist to the religious brain virus. This has to do with EPIGENETICS. Until recently, scientist thought that someone’s genes remained unaltered throughout one’s life. But genes can’t be turned on and off according to what your lifesyle is or what kind of experiences you have had. Pregnant women who witnessed 9/11 gave birth to children with post-traumatic stress.
Here in the west we have has fundamental changes like humanism, the enlightenment, empirism. This has changes the genes of people to make them less vulnarable to become infected by the virus of religion. Mathew comes from India, where there’s no tradition like critical thinking. Unconditional belief has ruled there until now. It’s in his genes to be enslaved by his thought. And in the muslim world it is even worse. You won’t find one atheist in Afganistan or Saoudi Arabia. Our genes has altered us to be more resistant to idiculous thoughts.
