Its no secret that i am strongly opposed to religion, some would even say hostile. I can admit to that, i am hostile towards religion, i think we schould all be. Often people ask me why? why not leave the religious people alone to believe whatever they want?
Why do i treat religious people with such contempt? Lets face it a lot of the religious nut’s that post to this site get pretty upset! They demand that i treat their superstition with respect. They stubbornly defend their superstitions with vigor, demanding humility in the face of their deity, and what not.
Typical arguments from them will be: Prove that god doesn’t exist – You have to interpret my holy text like this (so it can mean whatever) One of the funniest is Derek that claims dinosaurs and humans have lived on earth the same time! LMAO.
I guess a rule of thumb is: Never underestimate the religious minds ability to deceive itself. Even the arguments themselves presented by many of these loonies are contradictory, for example. Several religious people on this blog have claimed that humans cant imagine something eternal or the concept of something infinite, yet in the next sentence they condemn me to eternity in hell? Why threaten me with a concept i allegedly cant comprehend in the first place? Of course I as well as most people have no problems imagining eternal or infinite, but never mind.
Some ask why i bother confronting these crack pots, they are obviously wrong, why not just let them live with their delusions?
Why not let them think that there is some some deity in the sky that gives a shit about everything they do and even what they think!
I mean in a historical perspective we are all sort of Atheist, we no longer believe in the old greek gods, like zews, Or Odin or Ra the sun god. We all scoff at these old religious beliefs but they are no more far fetched than todays superstitions, like Christianity or Islam.
Lets put a typical belief in perspective for a minute.
Lets imagine that someone told you that there is a giant tit beyond Pluto, this tit is all powerful, all seeing. It created the entire universe and all in it, including you and me. It will return to earth and judge who will live in paradise forever and who will live in hell forever.
Not only that, this all powerful being that has created the entire universe! actually gives a shit about what you do, think and say. And if you don’t follow the rules in an ancient book, that allegedly the mighty tit has given to us, you will be one of those that go to hell. – ( The rules don’t make any sense, they contradict each other and there isn’t any credible indications that this text is the will and words of the tit to begin with,,,,,,,) But believe it anyway, Be one of the special followers! Or else!….
If you made such a claim outside of religion you would probably end up in a nice padded cell next to napoleon, yet religious people make exactly such claims every day!
Such a a notion, no matter how you perceive it, is utterly contemptible and ridiculous in the extreme!
You don’t have to be very bright to see that their delusions are obviously wrong, this is meaningless superstitions.
On top of that, religion puts the follower in a position where they are supposedly “better” then the rest of humanity.
Take a second to reflect on that, a mind deluded enough to actually believe such extreme nonsense coupled with the notion that they are gods chosen followers, that everyone is less valuable then they are.
All of a sudden sectarian violence in Irak, the Crusades, the holocaust, Darfur, Rowanda, The taliban, Al-qaida, the ridiculous priest rule of Iran, anti abortionists, etc. All of a sudden such madness don’t seam unlikely at all! In fact these are the inevitable outcomes of such a mind set. We, the rest of the world, have to put our foot down and make sure that these people are confronted and treated with the contempt that they deserve at every turn.
Ignoring reality, and inventing an unfounded alternative is extremely dangerous, members of Al-qaida believe that they are on a mission from god and that mass murder of innocents as well as the enemy is a good thing, if fact so good that they are guaranteed a place in paradise.
If we don’t confront and work against this dangerous stupidity our children, as well as their children’s, children! Will still have to live with blind meaningless terrorism, religious abuse, sexual mutilation, and a third world no better off than it is today.
In fact chances are, that unless we halt the slide down the slippery slope religion has put us on. Our children’s, children wont have a planet to live on.
If we ignore the obvious problems associated with religions universal attempts to subvert fact, falcify history and denie truth, think of the following.
How environmentally friendly will a Christian be if he believes Jesus will return to earth in their lifetime and that Armageddon is soon upon us, no matter what we do.
What do you think Al-qaida will do with nuclear materials when they acquire them? what do you think the nuclear armed neighbors Idia and pakistan will do when they have their next religious war?
Yet religious people gets really pissed when we point out that their religion cant be true, that its falsifying history, and that religion causes unmeasurable suffering and untold numbers of needless deaths every day.
But what is worse? Committing indiscriminate murder, Actually falcifying history and scientific facts, etc – or – pointing out that indiscriminate murder is bad and that the lies and the falcification of history and science is unaceptable?
Who is the worst? The people committing and supporting these atrocities or the people pointing out that – “hey, idiot! that is wrong!”
Soon people who claim to be religious you will be treated with the contempt they deserve. They will be, like where i live, ostracized from society, they might as well proclaim to belong to the KKK or to be a Nazi.
So the answer is NO! we cannot allow such dangerous stupid superstitions to exist, its a danger to us and future generations we really owe it to them to free us all from the oppressive lies that has plagued us since the bronze age. Failure to do so means there might not be any future generations at all.
It is our obvious duty as human beings to work against this stupidity, so all you people out there fighting against the stupidity of religion, Keep up the good work. You are a credit to the human race!
